Nukubati’s surf season is the summer season, November to March, when the swells come across the Pacific from the North and create exciting surf conditions on the Great Sea Reef, just 20 minutes out from Nukubati Island.
There are two main reef passes, Raviravi and Twin Passage. Both passes have a lefthander and a righthander opposite each other and about 300 metres apart. On Twin Passage the righty is an incredibly fun wave, just perfect and totally rippable with barrels possible at take off and on the inside section if big enough.
It is an exceptional wave.

The lefty is grindy, very fast and hollow, longer than the right and more challenging and intense, an unreal wave. There is another lefty on the other side of the righty which is also pretty intense, fast, hollow, shallow and reeling, definitely the heaviest of the three waves. Raviravi’s conditions are similar to Twin Passage and are usually working at the same time.
Another 20 minutes away by boat on the North side of Kia Island, when the swells are really running, are world class lefts and rights, noted as far back as the 1980’s in Lonely Planet Guides as the best surf in Fiji.
Nukubati Island is the only resort with access to the Great Sea Reef surf . We have the boats and the guides to take you to awesome waves where you will be the only one surfing.
